In lieu of Christmas Gifts this year Recognition Services has made a monetary donation to the Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of our dedicated customers.
“The Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) exists to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred service-connected injures on or after September 11, 2001. On that date, America watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died including hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers.
The tragic events of Sept. 11 are often the reason warriors say they felt a sense of duty to volunteer for the military.” As stated on the Wounded Warrior Project website.
These individuals chose to defend our country, and that is why we honor them.
So this Christmas we are thanking You by supporting our great country’s men and women who guard our freedom and safety.
From all of us to you, Merry Christmas!

With October here, so is breast cancer awareness month. For the next four weeks everywhere we turn we will see pink ribbon lapel pins as a reminder of this horrific affliction. It is a chance for all of us to
Stand Up 2 Cancer united as we search for a cure. However for a handful of faithful workers in Wisconsin, four weeks is just not enough.
The ladies of
Choose Hope are some of the hardest workers that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Their commitment to cancer fundraising and awareness is hard to match. While the rest of us only seem to think about cancer during October, or when it rears its ugly head in our personal lives, these dedicated ladies are on the frontlines of cancer awareness every single day. Every sale made with Choose Hope generates more funding for cancer research and support. If you want to see these incredible numbers I encourage you to check out their
donations page here. In September alone they were able to donate an amazing $16,000.00 thanks to the support of their customers.
If you are looking for a lapel pin to wear this month, I encourage you to check out their stock wholesale lapel pins, and other
cancer awareness products here. Shop knowing that every purchase is helping in the fight against cancer. They even have some
new wristbands that sum up the sentiment quite nicely.
However if you're looking to create your own custom piece, we would be happy to help you as well. Please just click on the above quote request banner at the top of this page and let us know what you would like to have created.
Thank you again to the ladies of Choose Hope. Keep up the good work and fight the good fight.
During the summer months we are hard at work creating
custom biker pins and embroidered patches for clubs doing various events, and whenever possible we like to give credit to the great causes we have the pleasure of being involved with.

We recently created a lapel pin for the
American Firefighters Motorcycle Club based out of Chicago and I feel they have a story and event lined up that is definitely worth sharing. This September will mark the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. To commemorate this event and to honor the heroes and loved ones lost that day, the American Firefighters M/C will be embarking on a ride from Chicago to New York. The ride will start on September 6th, with stops in Shanksville, Gettysburg, DC, and finally New York. To learn more about this ride and the travel accommodations being made, please click here to learn more about the
American Firefighters M/C 9/11 Ride.

For the past few years Recognition Services has been supplying Indian Motorcycle with custom made lapel pins, embroidered motorcycle patches, and even cosmetic parts for their bikes. As a licensed vendor we recently found out that Indian Motorcycle was acquired by Polaris, you can read more about this acquisition
here. We just wanted to take a moment to let you know that for Indian Motorcycle and their licensees it is business as usual. If you are wanting to make a Indian Motorcycle custom pin or embroidered patch then please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to
design a great piece for your group.
On another note as the weather changes, the trees begin to bloom, and the wind gets warmer it means that riding season is officially upon us. Make sure when you go out to stay safe and wear your gear. To everyone else not on a motorcycle, like the saying goes "Be aware, Motorcycles are Everywhere!". Every year we are asked to do fallen biker patches and our hearts go out to the families affected. Stay safe and enjoy the ride!

While we pride ourselves on offering you the best custom made lapel pin money can by, sometimes you need a new fundraising idea to generate more awareness, and more importantly generate more funds. That is why we are pleased to bring you the first of many new products we are adding to our line, the
Customized Locker Mirror! As you can see from the image these mirrors are 4"x4" with a great surface area for selling sponsorship logos, and create brand awareness. All images are screen printed with two colors included, and the mirror can be peeled and reapplied many times in its lifetime. If you Lions club members are looking for a new Lions fundraising idea, then look no further! Even if you're not looking for fundraising opportunities these mirrors are a great alternative to lapel pins to hand out to new gym club members, students at school functions, or even PD departments for use in the locker room. A few days ago I finished up our annual report for Lions Club International regarding all the custom lions club pins that we produced in 2010. The final results of this report shocked Craig and I to say the least. We are so busy throughout the year helping each individual Lions Club or District Governor that we do not often get to stop and step back to see the overall picture of our work.
Now that report is complete I am very thrilled and grateful to tell you that we produced over 140,000 custom made Lions Club pins, Lions Club coins, and Lions Club patches in 2010! Thank you again for your continued support by allowing us these opportunities for production and proving that we are the number one source for Lions Club pins!
Every year here at We Belong we attend the Lions Club International Indiana Midwinter Conference, which is always a great time, but this year I will remember above the rest. A couple of months ago we had the pleasure of creating a custom lions pin for the local Leo's members of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Mr. Lovati was a true gentlemen to work with and had the great idea of using braille as the only text for the Lions Club Pin design. In the end we produced an absolutely great design.
Fast forward two months to January 8th, 2011 to the Lions Club International Indiana Midwinter Conference and I had the pleasure of meeting not just Mr. Lovati, but also several students from the school. Each and every one of the students was proudly wearing their custom made lions pin and each came by our booth to express their gratitude for us having made them. They were thrilled they finally had their own custom lions pin just like the 'grown ups' that sponsor them. The lions club emblem turned out to be a great lions fundraising idea for them, and it was a pleasure to see all of their smiling faces as we met them.
I will always appreciate the thank you note they typed for me in braille as it is displayed proudly in my office.
With snow coming down across the country, some of you may be thinking of putting your motorcycle up for the season. STOP! Not until you strap on that vest full of custom pins, and get on your bike for a few Toy Runs. These runs are a great way for the biker clubs in your area to give back to the community. Many Toy Runs will even offer a custom made lapel pin signifying your participation in the event. If you have a toy run coming up soon and would like to have a lapel pin, it's not too late. Contact us today so we can make a custom pin for the ride.
Have fun out there and stay safe!

To diehard fans of the Olympic Games, pin trading is an unofficial sport and some even go as far as calling it the “Spectator’s Sport.” The Special Olympics followed the same lead as the Olympics and included pin trading booths as early as 1987 when Red Lobster sponsored the first pin trading tent. Pin trading had been a popular activity at previous Special Olympics Games, but this was the first time there was a centralized location for athletes and fans to meet and swap pins. The Red Lobster “Pin Central” featured over 10,000 lapel pins.
Coca-Cola soon took over sponsorship of the pin trading area for the Special Olympics World Games. As with the Olympics, Coca-Cola has been affiliated with the Special Olympics for many years. Some say Coca-Cola singlehandedly popularized lapel pin trading, and with the popularity of the Olympics and Special Olympics lapel pins, it’s hard not to agree a little.
Lapel Pins are probably one of the most popular collectors’ items at the Special Olympics Games. Not only are they a commemorative item, but pin trading has proved to be a fun hobby for the participants.
The custom lapel pin designs focus on a variety of themes such as emblems, mascots, sports and other related themes. Each custom lapel pin has a unique code on the back of the pin, including a number that indicates the total number of custom made lapel pins for that design. Special Olympics pins that are issued in less than 35,000 copies can be somewhat valuable, but lapel pins that are in quantities of 7,000 to 1,000 are worth the most.
Not only is lapel pin trading a fun pastime for a great cause, it also helps support the Special Olympics’ efforts to offer people with intellectual disabilities "the chance to play, the chance to compete and the chance to grow."

The Indianapolis Fire Department recently celebrated their 150th anniversary and we were fortunate enough to be asked to make custom lapel pins and custom coins for the important occasion. The history of the Indianapolis Fire Department actually dates back to the 1820s when they only had one volunteer department. In those days, they had to use church bells for alarms and only had ladders and leather buckets to fight fires.
150 years later and there are over 1,000 firefighters and 38 fire stations in Indianapolis. They don’t use old fashioned leather buckets anymore to put out fires. In fact, for their 150th anniversary they had their own anniversary website,
www.ifd150.com, and even a
Facebook page.
How times have changed. Some people may think lapel pins and custom coins are old fashioned, but not the high-tech Indianapolis Fire Department. They trusted custom made lapel pin and challenge coin manufacturer Recognition Services to provide recognition lapel pins and custom challenge coins for the very important anniversary. Happy 150th Indianapolis Fire Department! Thanks for putting out those fires and keeping us safe.

Lions Club International is known worldwide for helping the blind. From eyeglass donation boxes to free vision screenings, the Lions Club has helped the blind and vision impaired since Helen Keller challenged them in 1925. You have known about the sight programs, but did you know that Lions also help to support and train Lions Pilot Dogs?
There are many Lions Clubs in Ohio and elsewhere that have helped Pilot Dogs Incorporated. Lions Clyde R. Tipton and Dwight Swepston, members of the Tri-Village Lions Club, presented a motion in 1960 at the State Convention of Ohio Lions to adopt Pilot Dogs as a state project. This became reality at the 41st Convention and Pilot Dogs was granted permission to be known as “Lions Pilot Dogs” by Lions Club International. Over 500 Lions Clubs now support Pilots Dogs and their services to the blind.
They also have an Alumni Association that meets annually in Columbus, Ohio. Owners of guide dogs that have graduated from Pilot Dogs get together to exchange information, knowledge, experiences and to new learn about new training techniques and technologies.
As member Truie Davis told us, “We try to promote a better understanding among the general public of the value of guide dogs to those who are visually impaired, and to promote the acceptance of persons using guide dogs to all facilities and means of transportation open to the general public.”
We manufacture custom lapel pins for Pilot Dogs Incorporated to present to their alumni association members. They also use the lapel pins to thank Lions Clubs for their support and to anyone else working to support Pilot Dogs Inc. You can
support Pilot Dogs here, and then
contact us with your idea for a custom made lapel pin.

Few things are better than having fun with others while doing some good for your community. More people than ever before are combining their hobbies to do special things for their fellow citizens. A great example of this is motorcycle clubs holding fundraising events. One biker club had a bike ride to raise money for their favorite children’s hospital. They made it extra special by giving participants a special edition Cardon Toy Drive Ride motorcycle pin.
These custom lapel pins were used to commemorate the ride and show their civic pride. More clubs and groups are using service lapel pins, motorcycle pins or recognition lapel pins to celebrate their special events. Not only do we provide custom lapel pins, we also offer custom biker back patches for leather jackets. They are perfect for civic organizations or clubs to raise money and promote their events.
Many organizations have developed loyalty for their events by designing and handing out new logo lapel pins every year. They now have a larger and more loyal following which ultimately helps their fund raising efforts. Keep your participants and donors coming every year with a stylish logo lapel pin from Recognition Services.

Still think getting “pinned” is old fashion? Far from it. There is no hotter craze or valuable pastime than collecting custom lapel pins. Just ask organizations like the Olympics or Disney who sell tons of logo lapel pins every year. Now you can play with the big boys and make your event or mini-marathon stand out even better.
Most mini-marathons give T-shirts, cups or other mementos that have little value and are soon gone and forgotten. Why not reward your winners, participants and volunteers with unique and recognition lapel pins? Since they signify your event, they will only increase in value and personal memories. What better way to show your appreciation, recognition and sense of achievement than by awarding your most valued participants a unique, custom lapel pin that they can have as a keepsake of their hard work and commitment. One that is proudly worn and not discarded.
While many awards or medals just sit on the shelf for no one to see, a lapel pin can be a constant remember of an outstanding achievement or memorable event. While a T-Shirt will be worn once and get thrown in the junk drawer, a logo lapel pin is a constant promotion vehicle or statement of pride by the winners and participants.
Isn’t time you made your mini-marathon stand out?
Ordering is simple, easy and fast. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to standout from the crowd at a value. Getting “pinned” is not old-fashioned, but the best way to honor and promote your event or mini-marathon.
We have produced many mini badges for law enforcement and public safety personnel over the years. Police Departments typically want a custom lapel pin that is a replica of their police badge. Although smaller than a real badge, a Police mini badge can look nearly identical to the real McCoy. The police lapel pins are worn on the shoulder or elsewhere on the uniform, and can even be displayed in a wallet.
Police mini badges are available in any size or shape, but a 1” lapel pin is the average pendant size. The custom lapel pins are available in gold or silver plated options. Many custom options are available including special finishes, special colors, and the addition of gemstones.
Not only can we create Police mini badges, we have also made many real badges for law enforcement, public safety officers, security officers, correction officers and military professionals. Law Enforcement departments have also contacted us to design and manufacture mini handcuffs, cufflinks, key chains, medals, service lapel pins, patches, coins and other custom Law Enforcement jewelry.
Our in-house custom lapel pin designers like to think that the design aspect of any lapel pin project is the most important part. We remind them that if the custom made lapel pin is not manufactured properly, the design doesn’t matter. The lapel pin designers agree, but secretly still insist they are the most important!
Our staff can’t agree on the best way to present or package a custom lapel pin either. Some of our employees prefer the sophisticated look of a hinged velvet box, while others like the simple look of the small hinged plastic box. Either way, whoever receives the lapel pin will surely be impressed with the custom pin attached to the foam or velvet interior.
I have always liked the two-piece plastic boxes with removable lid for presentation of a custom lapel pin with a unique design. The clear plastic lids allow for the lapel pin to be seen while protected in the box. However, Orlando has always favored the velour presentation bags. Not only do the velour drawstring bags protect your lapel pin, they also have a high quality look and feel.
The lapel pin design and manufacturing quality is important, but don’t forget about the presentation and packaging! Make your custom pin presentation personal with a variety of We-Belong lapel pin presentation options.

Lapel pins are used in nearly every industry and organization, but many people forget they once had a logo lapel pin designed with their school mascot or emblem. Remember that special lapel pin you received for perfect attendance or being a member of a school club? Custom lapel pins are one of the best ways to show off school spirit.
Many schools will use recognition lapel pins to acknowledge the hard work of their students. Recognition lapel pins are used to recognize attendance, honor roll, service, spelling bees, and other achievements. Many school sport teams, or even their parent boosters, will wear a custom made lapel pin with their motto or logo. Marching bands, band boosters, chorus, dance teams, orchestras and even cheerleaders wear custom pins to display their school pride.
Even though they are sometimes behind the scenes, clubs and groups like student council, yearbook and debate clubs also wear lapel pins to meetings and school functions. Whatever the reason for your school pins, we have over 30 years of experience to help design and manufacture the perfect
lapel pin to display the loyalty you have for your school.

A custom lapel pin may not seem exciting to everyone, but for the young men and women in the Law Enforcement Explorers program, a lapel pin is used as a keepsake for them to remember their annual Law Enforcement Exploring competition. After all, who would have thought learning about a career as a Police Officer would be exciting for high school kids? For many Police Officers, their local Explorer Post was what started their law enforcement careers.
The Explorers originally developed as a way to keep teenage boys active in the Scouts. Over the years the Explorers have gone through a lot of changes and the national program is now referred to as Venturing. The Explorers were moved over to the Learn for Life program which is focused on learning and participating in different career opportunities.
Law Enforcement Exploring is a career-oriented program for young men and women who are 14 to 21 years old. The program gives young adults the opportunity to explore a career in law enforcement by working with local law enforcement agencies. Not only do they get to learn about being a police officer, but they also have a lot of fun with hand-on activities and events.
One of the most popular events for Law Enforcement Explorers is the annual competition which is held at Explorer posts all over the country. We were contacted by a local Explorer Post to produce a custom made lapel pin for their annual Midwest competition held by the Dan Beard Council.
The Law Enforcement Competition custom lapel pins not only remind attendees of their fun competition memories, but also serve as recognition lapel pins for each attendees work and dedication. At the same time, these lapel pins are used as awareness lapel pins to promote the Explorer program to their friends and peers. Most importantly, should one of the Law Enforcement Explorers eventually become a police officer, they have a keepsake of what started their career – a
custom lapel pin.

Lapel Pins are very popular with organizations, service clubs and departments all over the world. Lapel Pin collecting and trading provides a whole new way for members to recognize and be involved with their organization. Lapel pins and lapel pin trading date back to at least the early 1940's. It is documented that American soldiers used lapel pins to trade with the natives in the Pacific Islands during World War II.
Service lapel pins, awareness lapel pins, recognition lapel pins . . . jump 70 years into the present and the demand for custom lapel pins has reached an all-time high. Lapel pin traders and convention attendees will travel far and wide to find that missing custom lapel pin.
The majority of lapel pins we supply are die struck soft enamel pins because of their exceptional appearance and affordable price. They look a lot more expensive than they cost. The design is stamped with a custom die onto a flat sheet of metal and finished with gold, silver or copper finishes. Enamel paint adds color and definition to the design details. A clear epoxy coating can be added to the surface to give the custom lapel pin a shiny look and help prevent scratching. Soft enamel lapel pins look best with designs that have separated colors.
Litho lapel pins are an exact reproduction of a photo or full color illustration. Because they are printed, Litho lapel pins can include graduated colors. The epoxy dome protects the image from scratching. Litho lapel pins have a custom shape and size in a choice of gold or silver metal finish.
3D cast lapel pins have a sculptural appearance with a three dimensional look and feel. A rubber mold with your design is spun at a high speed and filled with molten metal. The metal then cools and each lapel pin is hand painted if required, and then finished with a polishing process. 3D cast lapel pins can be made in nearly any size or shape and finished in bright or antiques gold, silver or copper finishes.
You don’t have to make a decision about what process is right for you. Just
contact us with your idea or design and we'll help you choose the best type of lapel pin for your project. With over 30 years of providing the finest custom emblematic jewelry, your organization is in good hands with We Belong by Recognition Services.
